Focused Industry Sales leader responsible for all aspects of the sales/customer interface including translating business strategy into sales tactics and account plans, acting as “the voice of the customer” inside the organization. Understand customer, market and competitor trends and communicating the same back to the organization. The Food Technical Sales Manager is expected to develop and maintain personal relationships with the key decision makers at key accounts.

Manage a portfolio of current business with key accounts and generate new business

with new customers. Nurture existing key account relationships and develop additional

relationships with new customers. Manage role as primary point of contact between

the organization and the customer. Manage customer problems to resolution. Partner

with other departments within the organization to bring satisfaction to key accounts.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Customer relationships with Purchasing, R&D & Marketing
  • Customer Profiles, Relationship Plans and Targets
  • Achieving customer targeted volume and price goals
  • Identifies and targets growth opportunities by customer with resource plans to support customer growth objectives
  • Sales growth and increased share at key customers
  • Contract and pricing management of customers including key contract negotiations
  • Supporting and track customer opportunities
  • Key interface between our customers and Technical Support
  • Strong contributor to the development and identification of growth opportunities and competitive threats via customer and market understanding and communicating the same back to the organization.
  • Volume Forecasts from Customer base

Required Skills

  • A minimum of 10 years food ingredient experience in Sales.

Minimum of 5 years experience in the food industry, calling on other food manufacturers.

  • A bachelors degree in business or food science required.
  • Ability to discuss technical concepts with R&D and convey features and benefits to purchasing and upper management.
  • Dairy and beverage customer development experience preferred
  • Food Application experience with customer R&D preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills including dispute resolution.
  • Demonstrated experience in sales growth with new products
  • Highly developed communication skills appropriate for all business situations.
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiating in difficult and complex situations.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and change.
  • Able to drive opportunity development and prioritize and manage multiple projects in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; strong personal presence both with customers and internally to company.
  • Willing to travel extensively.
  • Home-based office.
