Technical Sales & Market Development Manager – Phosphate Fertilizers

  • Gain incremental sales from end-user accounts, through distributors, by changing/modifying established cultural practices using sound agronomic principles and newer, more effective, efficient, and environmentally responsible products and practices.
  • Customer relationship establishment/management
  • Meet and support the overall phosphate growth targets
  • Implement and manage on-farm and university trials utilizing the phosphate based products
  • Create selling tools including writing articles and presentations
  • Must possess a strong understanding of sound agronomic practices in a multitude of row, vine, vegetable, tree and other high value crops, cropping environments and irrigation systems

Major Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Prospect for and present value propositions to, growers using Company Premium Fertilizers to improve customer’s crops, cropping practices, efficiency and satisfaction
  • Provide technical support to end use customers on the use of liquid and water soluble agricultural fertilizers.
  • Utilize trial data to create articles and literature used in the promotion of Premium product
  • Work in collaboration with SF Sales Agronomist
  • Prospect for new opportunity crop segments in Western US Agriculture
  • Work to achievement the Premium Fertilizer 5 year growth plan
  • Must have the ability to build relationships with growers and distributors
  • Set proper trial protocols against the competition and other technologies

 Required Skills

  • Knowledge of High Value crops and irrigation systems used in their production
  • Analytical skills including ability to read and understand nutritional values relating to soil, water and plant material
  • Ability to develop complete nutrient management programs following Good Agronomic Practices (GAP)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • PC Skills to include: Microsoft Office Applications
  • Must have excellent decision making and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute in a team setting while being an effective self-starter able to manage daily activities to achieve long term goals
  • Must be able to manage personal goals and corporate objectives while keeping a customer centric focus
  • Must be able to travel up to 50%. May live anywhere in the US that allows easy travel to Oregon, Washington, Texas and Idaho

Required Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy or related field with coursework in plant science, soil science, plant health and plant nutrition.
  • Minimum three years of experience working in the field of Agronomy with preferred background in fertilizers into the Ag market
